Cumin Pea Rice

Plain rice can sometimes be boring. This recipe adds an exquisite aroma and unforgettable taste!

Ingredients

1/2 cup chopped onions

1 cup basmati rice

2 garlic cloves unpeeled

3/4 cup peas

2 bay leaves

1 tsp salt

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tbsp vegetable oil

2 cups water

Steps

  1. Wash and drain rice multiple times until water runs clear

  2. in a non stick pot heat oil pan medium flame, add cumin seeds and bay leaves and stir until seeds start to crack. DO NOT LET IT TURN DARK (BURN)

  3. add onions and Sauté until translucent

  4. add drained rice and sauté for 30 seconds

  5. add 2 cups of water, salt, & peas. Let it boil

  6. cover and let it simmer on medium low heat until water has evaporated

  7. remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes. Gently fluff with a fork.
