Peanut Lime Salad (Dakwa)

This dish is well known in North Sudan. It’s a perfect side that compliments many meaty or vegetarian main courses. In this recipe I added tomatoes, cucumbers, & green scallions for an added fiber content, and a hint of peanut crunch for added protein.
The combination of sweet, sour and tangy flavors will leave you drooling for more!

Ingredients

1 Cup chopped cucumber

1 cup chopped tomatoes

1 chopped green scallion

2 limes juice

1 1/2 tbsp peanut butter

1 tbsp water

spices: 1 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp salt

Steps

  1. Wash and chop tomatoes, cucumbers and scallions

  2. Combine in a bowl, add all other ingredients, make sure to include all the juices from the tomatoes

  3. Mix until sauce is creamy and smooth

  4. sprinkle with crushed peanuts for added crunch
