Homemade Falafel
Falafel is a well known Mediterranean dish. It can be used as a side, or as a main dish when combined with pita bread or a salad. You might think it’s intimidating to make them from scratch, but let me tell you that’s there is Nothing easier and fresher than making your own falafel at home!
Ingredients
1 cup dry garbanzo beans (soaked overnight)
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
2 dill leaves
4 parsley leaves (remove stems)
spices: 1 tsp salt, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp cumin, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1/3 tsp oregano
Steps:
Wash soaked beans and drain
place all ingredients in a food processor, blend for a semi smooth consistency (you want the mixture to be somewhat grainy)
Add 1 tsp of baking powder to the mixture just before frying, mix well
heat oil in a frying pan, when ready form with your hand into semi flat balls, sprinkle with sesame Seeds if desired and gently drop them in oil
fry until golden brown and flip on both sides
